The Pudelpointers are the newest addition to the Canis Magnus Kennels. We are very excited to get a male and female from a great kennel out of South Carolina.
The Pudelpointers are a breed that has been around for about 150 years according to many sources. In 1881 it started when the Germans decided to cross a German Pudel (much different than today’s Poodle) and an English Pointer. Over the next years there were about 85 Pointers used with only a hand full of Pudels in order to get the instincts and qualities desired. They came to the United States in 1956. They are bird dogs mostly known for their great noses and their endurance, but also have a very sweet personality, loyalty, and a strong family bond. According to the AKC they are “a calm, self-controlled, versatile gun dog with a distinct hunting instinct and lack game or gun shyness.” The AKC also describes them as, “Highly trainable.”
We are very excited to have these sweet, smart, athletic, talented pups in our kennels and can’t wait to see their potential shine.
